HISTORY

Lauderdale Lakes has a rich, vibrant, and intriguing history - from Native Americans, U.S. Presidents, the Underground Railroad, and Chicago Gangsters to the stories of the families and properties on the lake. The LLIA is proud to help record and preserve the history of our lakes and the surrounding area!

History Committee Responsibility: Locate and preserve historical documents, photos, and stories specific to the history of the Lauderdale Lakes. Identify and retrieve new history content from current or previous lake residents and visitors.

Opportunity for Community Involvement: Anyone who has old documents, photos, or stories should please contact the committee. We would like to see or copy any historical documents, photographs, letters, or records of homes and structures around the lake. Particularly interested in stories about why people have decided to move to the Lauderdale Lakes and why they decide to stay here, and people who have historical or generational knowledge of the lake area.
